The four steps
- Choose the test. Start with a test guide so you know what a result can tell you. Common first orders are a lipid panel, A1C, and annual physical panel.
- Pick a seller and pay. The price includes a physician order. Compare checkout totals, because fees differ.
- Visit a lab. Bring the lab order and a photo ID if the seller asks for one. Follow the fasting instructions on your order.
- Read your results. They appear in the seller's portal or the lab's account. Use the reference range printed on your own report.
What this does not replace
A home order does not replace care for symptoms. If you have chest pain, severe shortness of breath, fainting, or sudden weakness, call 911. If a result is abnormal, a clinician needs to interpret it with your history.

Questions people ask
Is it legal to order your own blood test?
In most US states, yes. Online sellers use an independent physician to authorize the order. A few states restrict direct-to-consumer testing, so sellers exclude them. Check your state at checkout.
Will my doctor see these results?
Not automatically. Download the report and share it with your clinician, or ask the seller whether it can send a copy.
What if my result is abnormal?
Take it to a clinician. A single result rarely gives a diagnosis, and a clinician can repeat the test and look at the full picture.
